Peter Mulligan Tranmere Paedophile has received a 12-month prison sentence after admitting to the possession of obscene pictures of children.

Peter Mulligan, 62, from Tranmere, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 21 October, after confessing to possessing indecent images or pseudo-images of a child, three counts of creating indecent images or pseudo-images of a child, possessing extreme pornographic images of an animal, and possessing a prohibited image of a child.

In July 2024, officers apprehended Peter Mulligan following the execution of a warrant at his residence, where they discovered numerous devices containing disturbing images.

Peter Mulligan received a prison term and was furthermore subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a duration of ten years.

Detective Sergeant Rory Quigley said, “Peter Mulligan’s sentencing follows a lengthy investigation to bring him before the courts so that he pays for his crimes.

“Merseyside Police is completely committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and those who seek to do them harm.

“We hope that Peter Mulligan will now reflect on the consequences of his utterly depraved actions while serving his jail time.”

Detective Sergeant Quigley added, “We have specialist officers who investigate such crimes, and provide full support to victims and their families.

“We take all such reports extremely seriously and if you can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, our specialist officers will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.”
