Subsequent to an inquiry conducted by Thames Valley Police, an individual, Muhammad Sohail Arshad Reading Rapist, has been sentenced for the sexual assault of a woman in Berkshire.

Muhammad Sohail Arshad, 37, of Oxford Road, Reading, was sentenced today (13/2) to seven years and six months at Reading Crown Court.

He was also subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and permanently registered as a sex offender.

Muhammad Sohail Arshad admitted guilt at a court last month to one count of sexual behaviour involving penetration with a mentally ill female.

The conviction pertains to the sexual assault of an elderly woman suffering from dementia at a care facility in Berkshire.

Muhammad Sohail Arshad was indicted on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Corscadden, who oversaw the investigation, stated: “Muhammad Sohail Arshad has justly been incarcerated for what can only be characterised as a heinous crime.”

“Muhammad Sohail Arshad occupied a position of trust intended for the care of individuals; he reprehensibly violated this trust and assaulted an elderly woman, believing he would evade detection.”

This case has been profoundly challenging for the woman and her family, who are devastated by the reprehensible conduct of Muhammad Sohail Arshad.

“I wish to express my gratitude for their support and fortitude during our investigation; however, I recognise that even the sight of Muhammad Sohail Arshad incarcerated will not alleviate the profound trauma of the events that transpired.”

Thames Valley Police regards all reports of sexual offences with utmost seriousness and will conduct a comprehensive investigation.
