Matthew Thomas was revealed to be a depraved individual who surveilled his victims.
A 39-year-old, Matthew Thomas, resident of Meadowbank Drive in Ellesmere Port confessed to voyeurism, recording photographs of minors, three charges of producing indecent images of minors, three charges of creating indecent images, and two charges of possessing extreme pornography.
In September 2020, Matthew Thomas was apprehended after a woman utilising a lavatory at an undisclosed establishment observed a luminous light emanating from a jacket suspended in her cubicle.
Upon closer inspection, she discovered a hole in the jacket’s pocket with a camera lens positioned against it, prompting her to notify authorities, which resulted in his arrest on charges of voyeurism.
Authorities confiscated three mobile phones, an iPad, a laptop, and more computer equipment, uncovering almost 100 movies of a sexual nature, some dating back to 2008, which included footage of voyeurism and upskirting.
Officers also uncovered 28 obscene photographs of minors and two further movies illustrating extreme pornography.
Matthew Thomas was incarcerated for a duration of two years and eight months.
