Authorities have stated that Mariyan Grudev Latchford Rapist was ‘evidently solely focused on gratifying his own perverse sexual urges’ when he assaulted two women in Warrington.
Mariyan Grudev had conducted multiple Google searches for pornography and escort websites prior to his attempted rape of a teenage girl on July 24, 2023.
At 3 AM, he forcibly pulled her into the underbrush on Winwick Road, although she managed to flee.
Immediately thereafter, he returned to the town centre where he attempted to interact with several young females.
The perpetration of this act resulted in his subsequent arrest on suspicion of raping a 23-year-old lady on Wilderspool Causeway in December 2019.
Mariyan Grudev was convicted following a trial for this heinous offence in which he preyed upon a defenceless woman returning home from an evening out.
Prosecutor Eve Salter said: “In both cases, the defendant is deliberately alone and out in Warrington looking for lone women and the opportunity to approach them with the intention of rape.”
Today at Liverpool Crown Court, the 39-year-old, Mariyan Grudev, of Thelwall Lane, Latchford, was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 14 years.
Following the sentencing, detective constable Paul Beesly of Warrington CID said: “Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery of the two victims who went through such traumatic events but found the courage to report what happened to them and engage with the subsequent investigations.
“Mariyan Grudev is evidently a dangerous individual, on both occasions targeting women who were walking home following nights out. He was clearly only thinking about satisfying his own twisted sexual desires, with no regard for how his victims must have felt and the lasting consequences of his despicable actions.
“I hope the fact that Mariyan Grudev is now behind bars will give the victims some sense of closure, with the knowledge that he cannot do this to anyone else.”
