Macauley Barry Robert Nesfield, 28, from Eastfield, inflicted years of dread and brutality onto the victim through control, physical assault, and manipulation of circumstances.

Overcome by fear, she refrained from confiding in anyone; however, after Macauley Nesfield struck her in the head, resulting in a laceration that drenched her and her infant in blood, she reached out to relatives who subsequently contacted the authorities.

Macauley Nesfield has been detained in detention since his arrest in July 2024.

Macauley Nesfield entered a guilty plea in October for coercive controlling behaviour, assault, and injury. The offences occurred between 2021 and 2024.

On December 4, he was sentenced to two years and three months in prison at York Crown Court, where he was also subjected to a five-year restraining order.

Several other charges, including six counts of assault, one case of deliberate strangling, and one act of criminal damage, are permitted to remain on record.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Kelly Sharp of Scarborough’s Safeguarding Investigation Team, said: “Macauley Nesfield is a violent and manipulating danger to women.

“The victim in this case, like most people who are subjected to domestic abuse, was too petrified to come forward to report him to the police.

“She lived in fear and was controlled and manipulated by him for many years. Thankfully he is now behind bars and I hope she is able to now live in peace knowing that he cannot harm her.

“Macauley Nesfield is facing the consequences of his sickening abuse and now has time in prison to reflect on what he has done and take every opportunity to change his behaviour.

“No-one should have to live in constant fear and be afraid to tell anyone. I hope the outcome of this case encourages other victims of abuse to come forward.

“If you are living with domestic abuse – which is not always physical – please tell someone.
