Leslie Marrs inflicted a laceration to his neck with a knife blade shortly after being incarcerated for the sexual assault of a minor girl.
Judge Stuart Driver, QC, cautioned the dock officer that Leslie Marrs had informed probation he would take his own life prior to arriving at prison.
The 76-year-old, Leslie Marrs, subsequently inflicted two incisions on the right side of his neck after retrieving a blade from his suit, before the officer subdued him and he was sent to the hospital by ambulance.
Leslie Marrs, residing on Dunkeld Close in Kensington, confessed to the abuse of the girl, who was in her mid-teens, following her revelation of the abuse to a youth worker.
The court was informed that the girl experienced nightmares, engaged in self-harm following the assault, and exhibited atypical challenging behaviour.
Leslie Marrs was incarcerated for a duration of two years and eight months.
