Laura Docherty Glenrothes Child Killer

An alleged attempted Glenrothes child killer, Laura Docherty, is charged with establishing a crowdfunding campaign for a young girl she purportedly attempted to murder.

Laura Docherty allegedly exhibited violence towards the youngster and administered unprescribed drugs over a duration of two and a half years.

Prosecutors assert that the minor was severely impacted, necessitating resuscitation.

In addition to the attempted murder charge or an alternative accusation of deliberate mistreatment of the girl, Docherty is also charged with fraud.

A 34-year-old, Laura Docherty, from Glenrothes, Fife, allegedly established a GoFundMe campaign under the pseudonym “Lucy”.

This was purportedly executed to generate funds for the child.

The indictment alleges that fraudulent assertions were placed on the website, claiming the girl was afflicted with a “neurological illness” and was “receiving medical treatment”.

The accusation asserts that Docherty herself instigated any problems for the girl.

It is reported that Laura Docherty acquired a total of £485 in donations through fraudulent means.

The allegations in the indictment range from September 2020 to February 2023 and enumerate several sites in Edinburgh.

The attempted murder indictment alleges that Laura Docherty issued violent threats to the girl and physically assaulted her by striking her with her hand.

The mother is accused of “repeatedly administering” “medication that was not prescribed” to the child.

This comprised amitriptyline, dihydrocodeine, and paracetamol.

Prosecutors assert that Laura Docherty also “induced” a man to administer the initial drug to the girl.

The child reportedly experienced seizures, diminished consciousness, and required resuscitation.

She was hospitalised, placed on a ventilator, and subjected to superfluous medical investigations and treatments.

A hearing was necessitated before the High Court in Glasgow.

Simon Gilbride, representing the defence, stated: “Laura Docherty maintains her pleas of not guilty.”

Mr. Gilbride and prosecutor John Macpherson concurred that a trial may be scheduled.

Lord Colbeck scheduled a trial to commence in November 2025 in Edinburgh.

The case may endure for approximately seven days.
