A convicted Wakefield paedophile, Joseph Parkin, preyed on youngsters following his release from jail for analogous acts.

Joseph Parkin has been sentenced to eight years in prison after confessing to engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor, following his release from detention for comparable sexual acts.

He also acknowledged engaging in communication with two additional juveniles, so violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Joseph Parkin, 26, formerly residing in the Belle Vue area of Wakefield, has pleaded guilty to four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual conduct with a male under the age of 16 and two counts of violating a Sexual Harm Protection Order. He attended Leeds Crown Court last week for sentencing.

He was sentenced to eight years of incarceration and subjected to an extended licence period of six years upon his release from prison. In October 2023, one of the victims reported the offences committed against him to the police.

West Yorkshire Police reported that Joseph Parkin was promptly identified, apprehended, charged, and detained in custody. He has been detained on remand since that time.

A police spokesperson stated: “Subsequent investigations confirmed that Joseph Parkin had communicated via telephone with several children.” This contact was meticulously examined by professionally trained officers, leading to the police identifying other offences.
