A Tyrone man, Gary McCausland, charged with child sexual images offences dating back nearly a decade by Tanya FowlesNovember 6, 2024
A man from County Tyrone has been arraigned in court concerning child sexual imagery and attempted communication, with some incidents dating back nearly a decade.
Gary McCausland (40) of Duncan Park, Fintona, is charged with the possession and creation of an indecent photograph of a child, as well as a pointed image of a child, on 18 July 2015.
Furthermore, it is alleged that on February 28 and March 16, 2022, McCausland is charged with deliberately seeking to engage in sexual communication with a female youngster for his personal sexual enjoyment.
A police officer aware of the facts of the case told Omagh Magistrates’ Court the charges could be connected.
No details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged offending were disclosed during the short hearing where McCausland, dressed in jeans and navy coat, spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood the charges against him.
A prosecuting lawyer said the full investigation file is not due until February which District Judge Peter Magill remarked: “That’s a long way off.”
He decided to adjourn the matter until December 17 to monitor progress and ensure there is no slippage.
McCausland was remanded on continuing bail and has been excised from attending on the next date.
