Fernando Camutari rapist sex offender - Sheffield

An individual, Fernando Camutari Sheffield Rapist, who committed rape has been incarcerated following the prompt actions of the victim, who managed to contact emergency services using the phone belonging to the perpetrator.

Fernando Camutari, aged 41, enticed his 21-year-old victim to accompany him to his residence in Sheffield following a night out during the early hours of June 8, 2019.

She successfully dialled emergency services on the rapist’s phone, and her pleas for Camutari to cease were audible on the call.

Law enforcement swiftly responded to the residence on Mordaunt Road and apprehended him while he and the victim were departing the premises.

Fernando Camutari consistently refuted the charges. Initially, he vehemently denied that the woman had entered the residence despite CCTV footage depicting them entering together.

Subsequently, he refuted any occurrence of sexual activity – however, forensic evidence substantiated differently.

Fernando Camutari was indicted in 2020 for one instance of rape and two instances of sexual assault.

Last week, he had a trial, and the jury rendered a verdict of conviction on Friday (August 11) for all accusations. Following the announcement of the verdicts, he received a sentence of six years and nine months in jail.

After the sentencing, DC Tom Ryan from South Yorkshire Police expressed his admiration for the victim’s exceptional courage and perseverance in this case.

‘In addition to her exceptional quick-thinking during the night of the attack, she has demonstrated patience, determination, and steadfastness throughout the four years of awaiting justice.’

‘This case contained incriminating evidence, such as the recorded emergency call, crucial forensic evidence, and film that definitively contradicted Fernando Camutari’s false statements.’

‘I am satisfied with the verdict reached by the jury, and I anticipate that this will be a positive development for the victim as she continues to heal from this traumatic experience.’

‘I would like to emphasise that if you have experienced sexual assault, it is important to report it officially.’
