Today, a former limousine driver, David Saynor Rotherham Paedophile, who methodically groomed and sexually assaulted teenage girls in the Rotherham area over a decade has been imprisoned.

Under Operation Stovewood, a significant inquiry into non-familial child sexual abuse and exploitation occurring in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1997 and 2013, the CPS prosecuted David Saynor.

David Saynor, 76, was found guilty of a range of sexual offences between September 2005 and June 2015 against eight girls, aged between 12 and 17 years old at the time, following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.

David Saynor was condemned to 24 years today.

David Saynor owned a limousine company in Rotherham. From their homes or schools, he would pick several of the victims up in his cars; others he would bring to young teen events like birthday parties or disco gatherings for young people.

He would first offer several girls free transportation and invite them to perform “promotional work” for his company. Before raping or attacking the girls, he then handed them money, smokes, pills and free drinks.

Before attacking them, he would sometimes urge them to become quite drunk. Should their booze supply run low, he would get more.

David Saynor once warned a child victim he raped that he knew where her family lived and that he would harm anyone she spoke about the abuse.

Employing unique measures, the victims were able to provide their finest proof for this case. This enabled them to have their cross-examination video filmed away from the courtroom and the prisoner before the trial.

“The way David Saynor groomed, threatened and coerced young girls in the community for his depraved sexual desires was both cruel and manipulative,” CPS specialist prosecutor Sam Thompson said.

“Child sexual abuse can produce lifetime emotional and physical suffering. We appreciate the victims who came forward to inform the court of what Saynor had done to them. Their evidence enabled us to compile a compelling case and assist in the prosecution of this sex offender.

“I hope this conviction makes it quite apparent that, wherever abuse occurs, the CPS, collaborating with law enforcement, will mercilessly pursue justice and punish those who sexually exploit children.

“No matter how much time has passed, I would want to urge any victims of child sexual abuse or violence to notify the police about the crimes committed against them.”

The CPS created a specialised Organised Child Sexual Abuse Unit to handle some of the more complex and complicated cases of child sexual abuse, therefore sharing specialist knowledge, building strong cases and boosting successful convictions.

Stuart Cobb, NCA Senior Investigating Officer, said: “David Saynor targeted vulnerable girls who still suffer with the consequences of his abuse as adults.

“I’m happy that we could seek justice for the victims; they had terrific bravery in disclosing what Saynor did.

“David Saynor’s incarceration should provide some closure for the victims.”
