A man, Clinton Royle Crewe Paedophile, was found guilty of forty-three prior sex crimes against minors as young as three. 2019 saw paedophile Clinton Royle finally arrested following a complaint by a brave survivor.
Then, police grabbed hard discs, digital storage devices, and clothes from his house. Digital forensic tools employed by Cheshire Police found encrypted, password-protected data, including thousands of pictures of child abuse.
Clinton Royle’s offensive recordings were also included in the files. At the time, his victims ranged in age from eight to twelve years. Additional enquiries turned up officials able to pinpoint other child victims ranging in age from three to twelve years.
Clinton Royle agreed he was present in the films and pictures with the youngsters; he disputed the offence, contending his conduct and the photographs lacked a sexual aspect. In April 2023, he was charged with the charges notwithstanding his denials.
Following an 11-day trial, 62-year Elm Drive, Crewe, Clinton Royle was found guilty. He was found guilty of 28 counts of assaulting a girl under 13, two counts of taking an indecent photograph of a child, three counts of possessing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of a child, and seven counts of encouraging a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
He has been remanded into detention until September 27, when he will be sentenced.
“This has been a complex and protracted investigation, and I would want to commend the bravery of the victims in this case, the officers who have worked hard to gather evidence against Clinton Royle, and all those involved who have helped bring this sexual predator to justice,” Detective Constable Amy Pegnam said following the verdict.
Showing little respect for the young children he targeted, Clinton Royle’s acts against them were solely to satisfy his own distorted sexual needs. He shall now, however, at last answer for his deeds.
“With Clinton Royle behind bars for his horrific crimes, this verdict today should bring the victims some closure and enable them to go on with their lives.”
DC Amy Pegnam said: “As this case indicates, we treat all accusations of non-recent sexual offences seriously, with the wants and needs of the victims as our priority, and any claims will be thoroughly examined.
“Anyone who has suffered sexual abuse – no matter how long ago the incident occurred – is urged to come forward and report it to Cheshire Police on 101 or through our website.”
