Christopher Oates, an individual has been formally accused of engaging in sexual exploitation of two adolescent females during the early 2000s.

Christopher Oates, a 44-year-old individual without a permanent residence, has been accused of committing six sexual offences between May 2004 and February 2005. These charges involved girls who were 14 and 17 years old at the time. Christopher Oates is the initial individual to face charges in an inquiry about historical child sexual exploitation in the southern region of Manchester.

As part of the Green Jacket multi-agency investigation, Greater Manchester Police has apprehended 57 individuals since its initiation in 2019. Christopher Oates, a resident of Stockport, is scheduled to make an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on September 12th. Christopher Oates has been formally accused of engaging in sexual exploitation of two adolescent females during the early 2000s.

He has been accused of:

  • Three counts of engaging in underage sex with a 14-year-old girl;
  • One count of intentionally causing a 14-year-old girl to be sexually exploited;
  • One count of intentionally causing a 17-year-old girl to be sexually exploited;
  • One count of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Our work on this investigation continues and will not relent until we have explored all available lines of enquiry to bring suspects to court and to bring justice for survivors. We will not allow the passage of time to become a barrier to pursuing justice.
