A Risca and Caldicot Paedophile Christopher Murray who conducted a catalogue of sexual assaults against children has been imprisoned for twenty-four years.
Described by authorities as dangerous, Christopher Murray entered a guilty plea to 32 counts of indecency with a child, indecent assault, assault by penetration, and rape.
Living in Risca and Caldicot, Murray, 63, confessed offences against four youngsters throughout the 1990s.
When he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, 19 July, he was handed a 24-year extended sentence—18 years in jail followed by a six-year extended licence period.
He will be on the sex offenders register permanently, and a life-long sexual harm protection order intended to restrict his access to children has been issued.
Detective Constable Abigail Short, Officer in the case, said: “The bravery and perseverance Christopher Murray’s victims have exhibited throughout this investigation has been inspirational.
Christopher Murray is a dangerous man whose relentless, predatory and evil actions have caused great suffering to his victims, aggravating their trauma of undergoing judicial procedures.
“For victims, speaking out about such terrible abuse is difficult; I admire their guts and honesty.
” Hopefully, this 24-year extended prison sentence will finally allow them to move on with their lives and provide the closure they’ve so desperately needed.”
Christopher Murraywas put on the register of sex offenders for life and became the focus of a sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Constable Short said: “We hope this outcome shows other victims of sexual assault that they will be listened to, believed in, and appreciated.
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse, particularly against children, extremely seriously, and if a report is made to us, we will investigate it thoroughly.”
