Christopher Crogan Mansfield Paedophile has been sentenced to a 20-year imprisonment term following a conviction for historical child sexual crimes.
Christopher Crogan, a 65-year-old man, was convicted by a jury of raping a girl, indecently assaulting her many times, and engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with her. This occurred during a trial at Nottingham Crown Court that took place from August 13th to August 19th.
Previously residing on Westfield Lane in Mansfield, Christopher Crogan perpetrated the crimes in Nottingham over the 1970s and 80s.
Following his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday (22 August), he was incarcerated.
Detective Constable Dan Blackham of Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection Unit commended the survivor’s remarkable bravery and fortitude for coming forward, which subsequently initiated the police inquiry.
“She has had to confront the events that occurred to her during her childhood, and subsequently had to experience the distressing specifics once more during the legal proceedings.”
“I trust that this case provides reassurance that we are committed to diligently prosecuting individuals who commit sexual offences, regardless of the length of time that has passed since the offence took place.”
“I also hope it provides reassurance to other survivors of abuse that they can confidently come forward, knowing that we will attentively listen to them, conduct a thorough investigation, and diligently pursue justice on their behalf – regardless of the passage of time since the abuse occurred.”
“Regardless of the number of years that have elapsed, we will consistently treat this offence with utmost seriousness.”
