Yousef Camara, a depraved sexual predator who assaulted a woman while she was asleep has been incarcerated.
Yousef Camara, 24, was assaulted after being permitted to reside at the premises by two young ladies. Despite having a bed prepared for him, Camara, of Broad Lane, used their generosity by sexually assaulting one of them while they slept, as shown before Bradford Crown Court on Monday.
Yousef Camara was convicted of assault by penetration after a trial before the court in July. Judge Jonathan Gibson stated that the victim, whose identity cannot be disclosed for legal reasons, was especially vulnerable at the time of the incident due to her being sleeping.
Barrister Paul Canfield said his client, who an Italian interpreter assisted, had suffered trauma in the past as a result of a friend dying and racism. He also revealed Yousef Camara had also been attacked while in custody last week.
No victim’s statement was provided for the court, but Judge Gibson said the victim had been “incredibly upset” about what had happened. He jailed Yousef Camara for five years for the offence and an extra two weeks in custody after failing to turn up at a previous hearing in January.
As a result of his sentence, Yousef Camara, who will serve two-thirds of his jail term, will now have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and he must also comply with an indefinite restraining order which bans him from contacting the woman.
