An officer of the Scottish police was dismissed from duty earlier this year after facing accusations of engaging in sexually improper behaviour with a minor.
The instance was one of eight highlighted in a report by the Scottish Police Authority regarding officers subjected to gross misconduct hearings during the year’s initial quarter.
Three officers, including the one accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with a kid, were terminated. At the same time, one was demoted, two received official warnings, and two voluntarily resigned before their hearings.
The examined complaints encompass a variety of misconduct, from encouraging unwelcome sexual contact to punching a colleague while off-duty.
The report indicates that three cops were present in court, with one being convicted of threatening and abusive actions while another was convicted of multiple charges.
The officer suspected of engaging in sexual impropriety with a youngster was acquitted in court.
The Scottish Police Authority report states that an officer was terminated due to engaging in inappropriate sexual activity towards a child.
“The matter was taken to trial in court, and the charge was not proven.
“Police Scotland has clear responsibilities for safeguarding children and young people, and there is no justification for causing harm to the most vulnerable in our society.
“The organisation will not tolerate this behaviour, and any police officers or members of police staff committing offences against children or young persons will be dealt with swiftly and robustly.”
