A police probe on past sex offences at a West Sussex former school has been started. The claims concern sexual assault between 1962 and 1970 at Tavistock and Summerhill School in Lindfield. Previously known as Tavistock Hall in the 1960s, the institution is closed.
There have not been any arrests.
Although the research was in a “very early phase,” Det Con Hannah Elmer said the force was “aware of several people we would want to speak with as part of our enquiries”.
“The incidents are reported to have taken place around 60 years ago and, as thus, there is not considered to be any ongoing risk,” she stated.
“To grasp the whole facts, though, a thorough investigation will be conducted.”
Anyone having information that might support the inquiry is advised to get in touch with the force.
